A video reply to Zach Anner.
Sunday morning I watched and then re-blogged Zach’s audition video for Oprah’s “Your OWN Show” contest. By the end of the night it looked like his campaign had picked up considerable steam. Zach was cool enough to give a shout out for the reblog and also provide a gorgeous still shot of the two of us modeling for the Gap.

Battlefield of the Mind (Part 1)
I read Battlefield of the Mind a few months ago and let me first say that Joyce Meyer is a wonderful author and teacher. If anyone is looking for an author that writes good topical christian books; Joyce Meyer, John Bevere, Christine Caine, &Stephen Arterburn are all great authors and teachers that are definitely not boring. Here are some notes that I got out of the book, The Battlefield of the Mind. . . Part 1: It’s All About the Mind “You can’t live a positive life if you have a negative mind” - in order for us as not only christians, but as people we must stop living our lives with negativity in them. By living a life that has negativity, yes it isn’t positive, but it is not healthy either. Negativity causes stress that can lead to health problems, relationship problems, etc. This doesn’t mean to always be happy and carefree, it simply means take care of the problems or things that need to be dealt with in LOVE. Majority of the times the way people word things can be taken into the wrong intentions. Positive people are enjoyable people to be around and negative people usually give off the sense that nothing is never good enough for them. “A tree is know by it’s fruit. Our thoughts bear the fruits“ - In Proverbs 23:7 it says, “For as he thinks within himself, so he is.” The old saying of what you say is what you are someone what is true. In better terms what you think is what you are. This doesn’t mean that I could think, “I’m a millionaire” and all of a sudden I go to the bank and low and behold 1,000,000+ has been added to my balance; this means that if you think to yourself, “I am strong, I am bigger than this situation, I can get through this”, the chances that you will get through a trial is more likely because in order for us to be successful, we must first have the right mindset. Half the challenge is believing it. “Nothing comes right away, it’s a process that needs to be worked at everyday” - This speaks for itself, but this statement also applies to things people may struggle with. If you want to be victorious in the long hall, you must have patience and make steps towards victory; or you will run out of gas and crash. “If your mind is open to God’s will in your life, then you will be able to receive what he has for you” - This quote is so good and so true. God doesn’t have these gifts and things to give us, but would rather dangle it in front of our face and hold onto it. The Bible says in Isaiah 30:18, “Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion.” God is looking for people to be gracious to. He not only wants to, but it is his desire to give us everything in the world. He is like the rich grandma that all our friends have, who love to spend tons money on their grandchildren and will buy them anything. Only thing with God is he will only give us the things that he as for us, once we are ready. I was studying one day and the word manifest came up and I realized I had no clue what that ment, so I called my friend Scott and asked him what it ment and he said a quote that I will never forget, “If you aren’t in order with your life, don’t have something taken care of, or truly are not ready; God may not manifest himself to you.” This is so true! Manifest means to reveal physically and/or spiritually. I have often thought, “What is the purpose of taking care of this issue in my life? I am only 17 I can take care of it later on.” By doing what I just said will keep you from what God has for you longer and ultimately can lessen what great things he is going to do in you and through you. “Don’t doubt the things God has put in your life because it is only an attack from Satan trying to get you to miss what God has for you” . . We often underestimate & don’t give enough credit to the power of our minds. By adopting these ideas from this first part of the book you will go so much further in your relationship with God. It may be tough, but when we sacrifice our lives for God, he will bless you beyond belief. Romans 12:1-2,”Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is true worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing, perfect will.By offering ourselves as living sacrifices and not conforming to the world, God will show and you will approve to his good and perfect will. Running Changes
If you are a fan of anything John Mayer does, get ready to become a stronger fan of his work and his vision.
// Introducing “Running Changes”… sharing the songwriting process on an even deeper level than I did during Battle Studies. I’m trying to forge a new sound along with a new album. Instead of rearranging the vocabulary I’ve already developed I want to establish an entirely new one to draw from. It takes a while. Lots of guess and check. I want to think like a new artist. DNA splicing on the fly. Running changes.
This tune sort of jumped out at sound check the other day and cast a little pinhole of light over the challenge. It’s not really a song so much as a template for something. I originally shot this video to have as reference to sing along and write to but thought it might be cool to share with you. I’ll sit over the next week and listen to it dozens of times, trying to sing the words and melodies that are hiding in it.
I’m going to make an effort to write on the road, something I’ve never done. I’d like to make the Summer tour a vehicle for playing new songs. Let you guys tape them, trade them, and maybe even sing along to tunes that weren’t even recorded in a studio yet.
Playing arenas and ampitheatres doesn’t have to mean showing up and doing an end zone dance. What if it were alive and organic and I played new tunes that were constantly changing and growing up each night? It would sure light a fire under my ass to write the best song I could, knowing I’d be bumping a surefire album track for it.
Playing to 20,000 people should feel like playing for 200, just with 19,800 more people looking in.
Thanks for giving me so much to sing about and the comfort of knowing I’ll have someone to sing them to when the time comes. I feel like I’m about to make my second first record.
Your little sister is so cute. I just want to pick her up and hold her in my arms…and give her a glass of milk.

What seems to be my main reason and avenue, if you will or won’t, for expressing what I have learned through my studies is going to be through blog. I feel that it is a great way to begin to express what God is revealing to me. Some things can’t wait to be mentioned in a sermon or given a chance for one to be written about. That’s what i am sitting on, also early stages of Art and Photography will every so often may make their way. Still haven’t a clue as to why I am typing this only for myself to read, but by writing this out I already getting eager to begin bloging. Wow, that didn’t sound weird. No more distractions I need to get back to writhing my paper on Hair (1979).
